When carrying out work on the airbag systems, always follow the instructions given in
the Workshop Manuals.
Side airbag
The new side airbag system is integrated in the
driver’s and front passenger’s seats.
The side airbag is described as a thorax airbag.
It mainly protects the thorax, and with it the
lungs and pelvis, from lateral bruising.
In terms of its appearance, the new airbag
control unit has a different connector
housing code to the previous model.
