3. Connect telephone B to Port 3 of module 1.

This dial tone is the equivalent of the PBX’s dial tone.
5. Dial 103 (the number configured for telephone B connected to Port 3 of module 1 - FXS);
telephone B rings (the FXO module’s Port 1 outpulses digits).
6. Offhook telephone B and test the line for voice.
3.5.3.3 Making a Mediant 1000 to MP-104 FXS Call
The following setup requires two telephones (A and B), two RJ-11 cables, and an MP-104
gateway. Note that the Mediant 1000 and the MP-104 must be in the same subnet.
¾ To make a Mediant 1000 to MP-104 FXS call, take these 5 steps:
1. In the Mediant 1000 ‘Tel to IP Routing Table’, in Row 3, in the ‘Dest. Phone Prefix’ field,
enter 30. In the ‘Source Phone Prefix’ field, enter an asterisk wildcard (*). In the ‘Dest. IP
Address’ field, enter the IP address of the MP-104; every call whose destination number
starts with 30 is routed to the MP-104.

2. In the MP-104 ‘Endpoint Phone Number Table’ screen, in Row 1, in the ‘Channel(s)’ field,
enter 1-4, and the first phone number, for example, 301, corresponding to channel 1, in the
‘Phone Number’ field (shown in Figure
3-6 on page 22). The phone numbers 302, 303, and
304 are automatically assigned (in sequence) to corresponding channels.

3. Connect the RJ-11 cable of telephone A to Port 1 of module 1 (where module 1 is an FXS
module) on the Mediant 1000. Connect the RJ-11 cable of telephone B to Port 1 on the MP-
104 gateway.
4. Offhook the receiver of telephone A (whose number you defined as 101), and then dial 301;
telephone B connected to the MP-104 rings.
5. Offhook telephone B and test the line for voice.
Note that to make a call from telephone B on the MP-104 to telephone A on the Mediant 1000,
you must define the internal routing table on the MP-104.
