Activating Adaptive Head Light
With the ignition on, turn the light switch to the
automatic driving lights control position, see
page 64.
To avoid dazzling the drivers of oncoming vehi-
cles, Adaptive Head Light is not active when the
car is reversing and directs the light to the front
passenger's side when the vehicle is at a stand-
still.
Malfunction
The LED next to the symbol for automatic driv-
ing lights control flashes. Adaptive Head Light
is malfunctioning or has failed. Have the system
checked as soon as possible.

Halogen headlights
The beam throw of the low-beam headlights
must be adjusted manually to suit the load car-
ried in the car, otherwise the drivers of oncom-
ing vehicles could be dazzled:
The second value in each case applies when
towing a trailer.
0 / 1 = 1 to 2 persons without luggage
1 / 1 = 5 persons without luggage
1 / 2 = 5 persons with luggage
2 / 2 = 1 person, luggage compartment full
Comply with rear axle load limit, see page 130.
Xenon headlights*
Beam throw is regulated automatically, e.g.
when you accelerate or brake, as well as for dif-
ferent loads.
High-beam headlights/

Right or left parking lights*
There is an additional option of switching on the
lights on the side of the car facing the road
when parked, if permitted in the country of use.
With the remote control removed or with radio
readiness and ignition switched off, see
page 36, press the stalk beyond its pressure
point in the appropriate direction 3. The flash-
ing turn indicators must remain off.
The parking lights will discharge the bat-
tery. Do not use them for unduly long
periods of time, as otherwise the battery might
not have enough power to start the engine.<
