Drawing up the lower
thread

While li ghtly holding the end of the upper
thr ead, slowly tum the handwheel toward
you (counterclockwise) by hand to
lower
and then raise the needle.
A Pull on the upper thread to draw up the
~ lower thread.

Pull out about 10 cm (4 inches) of both
threads and put them toward the
ba ck of
the machine under the pr ess er foot.

For models equipped with a quick-set
bobbin
You can beg in sew ing immediately without drawing
up
the bobbin th r ead.
When sew i ng gathers or darts, you can draw up the
lower thread by hand so that some thread will be
left over. Befo re you draw up the lower thread, put
th e bobbin back in.

Remove the bobbin cover, and then
reinstall the bobbin.
Pa ss the thread along the slit in the
direction
of the arrow, and leave it there
without cutting it.
• The bobbin cover shou ld st ill be removed.
Draw up the lower thread as described in
the previous steps O to E).
Replace the bobbin co v er .
