‘The
letters
MIDI
stand
for
Musical
Instrument
Digital
Interface,
which
is
the
name
of
a
worldwide
standard
for
digital
signals
and
connec-
tors
that
makes
it
possible

exchange
musical
data
between
musi-
cal
nstruments
and
computers
(machines)
produced
by
different
manufacturers.
MIDI
compatible
equipment
can
exchange
keyboard
key
press,
key
release,
:one
change,
and
other
data
as
messages

you

not
need
any
special
knowledge
about
MIDI
to
use
this
piaro
asa
stand-alone
unit,
MIDI
operaliors
requice
a
bit
of
spe-
cialized
knowledge.
This
section
provides
you

an
overview

MIDI
that
will
help

get
you
going,
MIDI
Connections
MIDI
messages
are
send
out
through
the
MIDL
OUT
terminal
of
one
machine
to
the
MIDI
IN
tecmunal
of
another
machine
over
a
MID
cable.
To
send
a
message
from
this
piano
to
another
machine,
for
ex-
ample,
you
must
use
a
MIDI
cable
to
connect
the
MIDL
QUT
terminal
‘of
this
piano
to
the
MIDI
IN
terminal
of
the
other
machine.
To
send
M:DI
messages
back
to
this
piano,
you
need
to
use
a
MIDI
cable
to
connect
the
other
machine's
MIDI
OUT
terminal
to
the
MIDI
IN

minal

piano.
To
use
a
computer
or
other
M:DI
device
to
record
and
playback
the
M01
dats
produced
by

you
must
connect
the
MIDI
IN

OUT
terminals

machines
