11.2 OS Updating from Application
11.2.1 Overview
In the case of personal smartphone, its owner updates the system by his own discretion.
On the other hand, in the case of business use, it is common that "whether to update the
system depends on the judgment of the administrator". However, there is a problem that
it is difficult to apply the update to the terminal actually being used at the site.
The following describes how to update the OS from your application. By this method, it is
possible to update OS at night when the devce is not used.
Cautions!
When using OSUpdateService described in this chapter, it is necessary to open
"System Updates" ( i.e. [Settings] [About phone] [System Updates] ) at least
once in advance. The reason for this is that when opening the "system update" of the
setting for the first time, access permission is required.
OSUpdateService internally calls "System Updates", but if you do not give permission
to the above, this call will end with an error.
Cautions!
The “OS Update ( 11.1 OS Update (p.94) )” of IT-G400 is a premise to be done by
hum
an operation. This is based on the idea that "Since OS update is a dangerous act
such as the terminal does not start when failing, wish people to check progress".
With this tool you can update the OS even if there are no people on the spot.
However, we can not say that 'updating the OS will succeed under any circumstances'.
Therefore, when using this service, sufficient verification is of course necessary, and
furthermore it is necessary to prepare for "Measures to be taken if OS update fails,
such as preparation of alternative terminal".
