Installing or Replacing Server Components
Installation Procedures
Use one of the following two procedures, depending on your server version:
• If you have a version 01 server, use the procedure in Installing the GPU Card in Version 01 Servers,
page 3-51. You are required to upgrade the server with a GPU upgrade kit before you can install the
GPU card.
• If you have a version 02 or later server, use the procedure in Installing the GPU Card in Version 02
and Later Servers, page 3-56. In this case, the GPU upgrade kit is not required.
See How to Determine Your Server Version, page 3-50 if you do not know your server version.
Installing the GPU Card in Version 01 Servers
The procedure in this section requires that you use the GPU upgrade kit to ready the server for GPU card
installation.

GPU Upgrade Kit
The GPU upgrade kit includes the following components (see Figure 3-26):
• Two replacement PCIe risers
• One replacement chassis mid-brace
• One 8-to-8 pin power-cable adapter (connects between the motherboard and the GPU power cable)
• One straight GPU power cable (for a single GPU)
• One “Y” GPU power cable (for dual GPUs)
