5 Operation
5.1 Turn on and turn off
Note: The default setting for bypass mode is no output after UPS is connecting utility power and
breaker is turned on. This can be configured by monitoring software.
1) Turn on the UPS with utility power supplied (in Utility mode/AC mode)
a) Set the bypass breaker and the input breaker to the “ON” position first after you verify that the
connection between the mains supply and the UPS system is correct. The cooling fan will
begin running and the UPS system will supply power to the load via the bypass circuit. The
UPS system will operate in Bypass mode.
b) Press and hold “ON” button for more than 1 second to power on the UPS. the unit will perform
self-diagnosis, with the load/battery level LEDs turn on and off one after another in ascending
order. A few seconds later, the INV LED is turned on, the UPS is already running in Utility
Power mode. If the power is abnormal, the UPS will turn to in battery mode without output
interruption.
2Turn on the UPS with no utility power supplied (in Battery mode)
aPress “ON” button continuously for more than 1 second to power on the UPS.
bFor long back up time model (“XL” model), please make sure that the battery breaker is in
“ON” position.
cDuring startup, the UPS has the same action as if it is connected to utility power except that
the utility power LED is not turned on and the battery LED is turned on instead.
3Turn off the UPS with utility power supplied (in Utility mode/AC mode)
aPress “OFF” button continuously for more than 1 second to turn off the inverter of the UPS
immediately.
bThe UPS will perform self-diagnosis, then the INV LED will be turned off and Bypass LED will
be turned on, which indicates that the UPS is operating in Bypass mode.
cEven after finishing above steps, the UPS output however is still not disconnected. In order to
cut off the output of the UPS, please cut off the utility power supply to let the UPS perform
self-diagnosis, then there will be no signals on the display panel and no voltage output is
available from the UPS output.
4Turn off the UPS with no utility power supplied (in Battery mode)
a) Press “OFF” button continuously for more than 1 second to power off the UPS.
b) When being powered off, the UPS will perform self-diagnosis, the Load/Battery level LEDs
will flicker in ascending order. Finally there will be no signals on the display panel and no
voltage is available from the UPS output.
Suggestions: Please turn off the connected loads before powering on the UPS and turn on the
loads one by one after the UPS is operating in On Line mode. Turn off all of the connected loads
before powering off the UPS.
