PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION
Engine will not start or will run only a
few seconds after starting.
(Make sure Ignition switch is in
start position “I”)
1. No spark
2. Flooded engine.
1. Check Spark. Remove air filter
cover. Remove spark plug from
cylinder. Reattach the spark plug
wire and lay spark plug on top of

watch for spark at spark plug tip.
If there is no spark, repeat test
with a new spark plug (RCJ-7Y

2. With the ignition switch off,
remove spark plug. Pull starter
cord 15 to 20 times. This will
clear excess fuel from engine.
Clean and reinstall spark plug. Pull
starter three times. If engine does
not start, repeat normal starting
procedure. If engine still fails to
start, repeat procedure with a new
spark plug.
