Page 2-14 Rev. Y
2.8 Mounting Requirements
The GIA 63(X) mounting surface must be capable of providing structural support and electrical bond to the
aircraft to minimize radiated EMI and provide protection from High-Intensity Radiation Fields (HIRF).
The GIA 63(W) can be mounted using the G1000 modular system rack, or may be mounted remotely using
the Standalone rack. The GIA 63H must be mounted in the Helicopter Rack. Refer to drawings in
Appendix B.
2.8.1 Mounting Limitations
The GIA 63(X) shall not be mounted in a location where either fluid contamination or water is commonly
encountered unless the applicable unit EQF indicates that the unit has claimed the appropriate RTCA DO-
160 categories for these environments.
2.8.2 Modular Rack Considerations
Figure 2-2 and Figure B-2 show the GIA 63(W) G1000 modular rack. The modular rack is fastened to the
main system rack using the nutplate kit listed in Section 2.1.2. Refer to Figure B-2 for nutplate placement
locations. Figure B-1 gives the GIA 63(W) modular rack dimensions.
The unit may also be mounted outside of the G1000 system rack. The number and positions of screws
noted in Figure B-2 are to be used when mounting the GIA 63(W) modular rack outside of the G1000
system rack. Aircraft manufacturer must fabricate any additional mounting equipment needed, use outline
and installation drawings in Appendix B for reference.
