AVOID HIGH-PRESSURE FLUIDS
• Fluids such as diesel fuel or hydraulic oil under
pressure can penetrate the skin or eyes causing se-
rious injury, blindness or death.
• Avoid this hazard by relieving pressure before
disconnecting hydraulic or other lines.
• Tighten all connections before applying pressure.
• Search for leaks with a piece of cardboard; take
care to protect hands and body from
high-pressure fluids. Wear a face shield or gog-
gles for eye protection.
• If an accident occurs, see a doctor familiar with
this type of injury immediately. Any fluid injected
into the skin must be surgically removed within a
few hours or gangrene may result.
