GENERALDESCRIPTIONOFTHEENGINE
This engine of the "TaG" series (Touch and Go) has been expressly designed and
developed for the powering of karts for hobby racing on closed tracks, destined for this
specificpurpose.Whendesigningthisnewlineofengines,thetechnicalsolutionsalready
adopted for thehigh performance engines were used,in order to guarantee the highest
reliabilityofcomponents,whentheoperatinglimitationsarerespected.
Themotorisasinglecylinderusingthetwostrokeprinciple.
Thecylinderandthecrankcaseareinaluminiumalloy.
The pressed in liner is made of centrifugated cast iron, fully machined to guarantee the
bestpossiblestability.
Theheadisseparatedfromthecylinderandsecuredbystuds.
Thecrankshaftisbuiltandsupportedbytwoballbearings.Thecrankshaftisofsteelalloy,
hardenedandtempered,asistheconnectingrodwhichrunsonrollerbearings.
The digital ignition with capacitive discharge is fed by a magneto which generates the
spark energy for the starting of the engine, supplies the advance timing through an
integratedpickupandrechargesthebattery.
The ignition includes a digital electronic unit (powerpack), the statorrotor, the starter
relay,theH.T.coil,aswitchkeyassembly,andthewiringharness(witha5Afuse)which
connectsthewholesystem.
Theelectronicboxwhichcontrolstheadvance,therev.limitationandtheenginestart/stop
logic,integratesthevoltageregulatorandtheignitioncircuit.
Thestarterrelay(SolidtypeSSR),protectedfromshortcircuits,suppliesthepowerforthe
electricstarterandiscontrolledbythepowerpack.
AnRPMlimiter,integratedinthepowerpack,preventstheenginefromexceeding17000
RPMduringuse.
The spark is generated also without a battery; it is therefore possible, in case of
emergency,tostarttheenginewithanexternalstarterunit.
With the starter key in “RUN” position, the starter activates a Bendix type gear which
engagesthestarterringassembledontheclutch.
Theengineisprovidedwithanautomaticdrycentrifugalclutchwithlowmaintenanceand
withinterchangeablesprocket.
The carburetor is a diaphragm Tillotson carburetor with integral fuel pump, filter and all
positionmountingcapability.
The battery (12 V 9Ah) is a sealed, no maintenance battery and is supplied already
preassembled, in the battery support box which can be easily adapted to all existing
chassis.
Theexhaust,includedinthesupply,isalreadytunedforthebestpossibleperformance.
Theengineissuppliedwithakitwhichincludestheradiator,thepump,waterhosesand
whatevernecessaryfortheassemblyonthekart.
