Power problems
Power symptom Suggested action
The computer does not turn on. Verify that:
v The power cords are properly connected to the computer.
v The electrical outlet functions properly.
v The type of memory installed is correct.
v If you just installed an option, remove it, and restart the computer. If the
computer now turns on, you might have installed more options than the power
supply supports.
If the problem remains, call for service.
System-board error LEDs
The following illustration shows the location of the LEDs on the system board. You
might need to refer to this illustration when solving problems with the computer.
Each error LED is lit to indicate a problem with a specific component. After a
problem is corrected, its LED will not be lit the next time the computer is restarted;
if the problem remains, the LED will be lit again. See “Solving problems” in the
User’s Guide on the IBM IntelliStation Documentation CD for additional information.
DIMM error LEDs
Product Recovery program
The Product Recovery program reinstalls your operating system and preinstalled
software. It is on a hidden partition on the hard disk. The Product Recovery
program runs independently of the operating system.
If you are using FDISK, Disk Management, or another utility to reformat the hard
disk, you might see the partition where the Product Recovery program is stored. Do
not delete this partition; otherwise, the Product Recovery program will be lost.
