8.0 Spa Fill Up Procedure
For best results, read each step in its entirety before proceeding with this
procedure. Make sure that all drains and drain plugs are closed, page 14.
1. Prepare The Spa For Filling
• Clear all debris from the spa. Although the spa shell has been
polished at the factory, you may want to treat it with a specially
formulated spa cleaner. Consult your authorized Jacuzzi dealer for
additional information prior to lling spa.
• If using the primary lter tting to ll, remove lter cover, then remove
lter cartridge as outlined in Section 12.1 (page 59).
IMPORTANT: In most cases, lling the spa by placing the hose in
the footwell will not create an airlock, page 77. If you experience
an airlock we recommend lling by placing the end of your garden
hose into the primary lter tting inlet. This wall tting is the one
with the grid, page 59.
2. Fill Spa
• Place the end of your garden hose into the empty primary lter tting
or into the footwell.
CAUTION: TO DECREASE BUILD UP ON COMPONENTS AND
MINIMIZE ACRYLIC DAMAGE. Never ll with water from a water
softener. If your water is extremely “hard,” it is preferable to ll half-
way with hard water and the rest of the way with softened water.
Water that is too soft can be corrosive to metal components.

Fill hot tub with clean tap water from garden hose, to reduce risk of
contracting a waterborne
illness (e.g. an infection, bacteria or virus)
and/or respiratory ailments
. Fill until water covers all jets but does not
touch the bottom of the lowest headrest (DO NOT OVERFILL!).
3. Turn On Power
Turn on power to spa at the home’s circuit breaker. The heater and
lter/circulation pump will automatically activate. Normally, at the
initial ll, the water tends to be cold. Refer to page 74 for additional
information.
4. Activate Jets Pumps
Turn on jet pumps when adding chemicals in step 5 (see
Section 11.2, page 34 to activate jets).
5. Add Start-Up Chemicals
Add the spa water chemicals as recommended by your authorized
Jacuzzi spa dealer. See Section titled “Water Quality Maintenance”
(page 68) for general guidance.
