ANALYZING DISCHARGE LINE TEMPERATURE
1. Determine the ice machine operating conditions:
Air temperature entering condenser ______
Air temperature around ice machine ______
Water temperature entering sump trough ______
2. Refer to “Installation/Visual Inspection Checklist” on
page 136 for ice machine being checked.
Use the operating conditions determined in step 1 to find
the published normal discharge temperatures.
Freeze Cycle ______
Harvest Cycle ______
3. Perform an actual discharge temperature check.
Freeze Cycle
Temperature
Harvest Cycle
Temperature
Beginning of
Cycle __________ __________
Middle of
Cycle __________ __________
End of
Cycle __________ __________
4. Compare the actual discharge temperature (Step 3)
with the published discharge temperature (Step 2).
The discharge temperature is normal when the actual
temperature falls within the published temperature range
for the ice machine’s operating conditions. It is normal for
the discharge temperature to be lower at the beginning of
the freeze cycle, then climb through out the freeze cycle.
