Setup
The MP3/WMA preferences let you change the way
MP3/WMA file information is displayed and the way
MP3/WMA CDs are played.
The MP3/WMA preferences can be set only when
playback is stopped.

Press the [SETUP] button.

Use the []/[] buttons to select the
preference you want to change.
The preferences are explained in the next column.

Press the [ENTER] button.

Use the []/[] buttons to select the
preference’s options.
To cancel the procedure at any point, press the []
button.

Press the [ENTER] button.
When the preference has been set, “COMPLETE”
appears on the display.
Preferences
Below, the name of each preference is followed by its
options in parentheses, with the default option in bold.
AUDIO
❏ FILTER (Standard/Soft)
This preference selects the digital filter that is applied to
the PCM data prior to D/A conversion for analog output;
this will switch the response inside and outside the
audible bandwidth.
Standard: Uncolored sound with good overall balance.
Soft: Mellow attack and richer resonance.
❏ DIGITAL OUT (On/Off)
If you notice noise when using analog output, switching
this preference “Off” to disable the digital output may
reduce the noise.
If digital output is turned off, the DIGITAL indicator will
not be shown.
ASb (On/Off)
Please refer to “Setting Auto Standby (ASb)” (page 15)
for details of the procedure.
On the North American model:
The default setting is “Off”.
On the European model:
The default setting is “On”.
INITIAL
This initializes the settings to their factory-set state.
If you make the display indicate “Execute” and then
press the [ENTER] button, the indication will change to
“Clear” and the settings will be initialized.
If you decide not to initialize the settings, choose
“Cancel” and press the [ENTER] button.
The following settings are used when playing back CDs
that contain MP3/WMA files. These settings will not be
shown if USB is selected. If you don’t see these settings,
press the [DISC/USB] button to switch to CD.
DISPLAY
❏ DISC NAME (Display/Not)
This preference determines whether the disc name is
displayed when an MP3/WMA disc is loaded.
