Lubrication
Jackshaft Bearing Greasin g
Loosen the driven clutch retaining bolt and pull
the clutch outward to expose t he bearing and
grease fitting. Inject grease into the grease fitting
in the flangette until grease purges from i nside or
outside the bearing seal (may take only t wo
pumps). Push the clutch back onto the shaft and
replace the clutch retai ning bolt. Torque to 18 ft.
lbs. (24.4 Nm).
Drivesh aft Bearing Greasing
Inject grease i nto the fitting on the speedometer
drive adaptor until grease purges from inside or
outside the bearing seal (approximately two
pumps).
Throttle Cable
Lubricate the throttle cable (1) lightly
with grease or oil. With the engine off,
turn the handlebars to the left and
lubricate liberally as shown.
Choke and Cable
Lubricate the choke slide (2) and cables
lightly with oil or grease. Before
turning the engine off, operate the choke
intermittently to draw moisture out of
the choke plunger area and reduce the
possibility of the choke becoming
frozen.
