Spark Plugs
Spark Plug Reco mmendations
CAUTION
Using non-recommended spark plugs can result in serious engine
damage. Always use Polaris-recommended spark plugs. Refer
to the specifications section beginning on page 104
.
Refer to the speci fications section beginning on page 104 for the
recommended spark plug type and gap for your vehicle. Torque spark
plugs to specification.
Plug Condition Torque Specification
New Spark Plug 9-11 ft. lbs. (12-15 Nm)
Previously Installed Spark Plug 17-20 ft. lbs. (23-27 Nm)
Spark Plug Insp ectio n
Spark plug condition i s indicative of engine operation. Check the spark
plug firing end condition aft er the engine has been warmed up and the
vehicle has been driven at higher speeds. Immediately check the spark
plug for correct color. See page 86.
WARNING
A hot exhaust system and engine can cause serious burns. Wear
protective gloves when removing a spark plug for inspection.
1. Remove the spark plug cap.
2. Using t he speci al wrench provided in the tool pouch, rotate the
spark plug counterclockwise to remove it.
3. Reverse t he procedure for spark plug installation. Torque to
specification.
