Orientation Transfer Device Instructions
In situations that do not permit two joined core inner tubes being removed in the one attempt, it may be necessary to separate them while inside
the drilling mast. Doing this before the bottom of hole orientation can be transferred to the core may affect the accuracy. In these situations it is
recommended you use the Re ex Orientation Transfer Device (Fig. 1).
Orientation Transfer Device
1. When the core inner tubes have been retrieved to the surface use the Marking Angle to draw a reference line across the join that connects the
two inner tubes (Fig. 2).
2. Separate the inner tubes as per your normal procedure and place them side by side on a horizontal rack.
3. Slide the transfer device over the inner tube so it still has the ACT/backend attached.
4. Position the device at the opposite end and rotate until ‘reference slots’ are over the reference line marked
in step 1 above (Fig. 3).
