Rules for handling backup batteries
WARNING
Risk of ignition, explosion, and combustion
Incorrect handling of backup batteries can result in a risk of ignition, explosion, and
combustion.
The regulations of DIN EN 60086‑4, in particular regarding avoidance of mechanical or
electrical tampering of any kind, must be complied with.

Do not recharge
● Do not throw into a fire
● Do not solder on the body of the cell
● Do not open
● Only replace with identical types
● Only use a replacement from Siemens (for order number, see Section Available spare
parts and accessories (Page 119)).
Always try to return old batteries to the manufacturer or deliver these to a registered recycling
company where possible.

Note
The fan/battery module may only be replaced when the device is in the power OFF state.
The battery should be replaced at least once every 3 years, and certainly whenever the
warning level is reached (see
SIMOTION D4x5
Commissioning and Hardware Installation
Manual).
Delaying the replacement of the battery may result in the loss of retained data!
