Initial settings for soundtrack and subtitle languages
You can make language settings before play with the initial
settings menus (a page 40). Whenever the unit is turned on or
the disc is replaced, the unit will specify the language you set.
If the language you select is not on the disc, the disc will be
played in its primary language.
Despite any changes to the initial settings, some discs will
specify another language when play is started.
Some DVDs have more than one subtitle language recorded on
them, and you can change the language during play.
During play
Press [SHIFT] +
[SUBTITLE] to change
the subtitle number.
The subtitle number changes each time you press the button.
You can also use the cursor buttons ( or ) to change the
number.
“– –” is displayed if subtitles are not recorded on the disc.
To turn the subtitles on and off
Press the cursor buttons ( or ).
To clear the display
Press [ENTER].
¡There may be a slight delay before subtitles are shown.
¡You can only select languages if they have been recorded on the
disc you are playing.
¡Only the motion picture parts of DVD-Audio are affected.
Note
Changing subtitle language
This feature allows you to repeat titles, tracks and chapters.
When playing DVD-Audio, the selected group play mode (normal or
all groups) is repeated.
Press [REPEAT] during play to select the
required repeat play mode.
The mode changes each time you press the button.
The modes depend on the type of disc you are playing.
¡Track
¡All (all tracks on the disc)
¡Group (all tracks in the
group)
¡Off
¡Chapter
¡Title
¡Off
This feature repeats play between two points that you specify.
During play
1 Press [SHIFT] +
[A-B REPEAT] at
the starting point
(A).
2 Press [SHIFT] +
[A-B REPEAT] at
the finishing
point (B).
Play repeats continuously between these two points.
To cancel
Press [SHIFT] + [A-B REPEAT].
¡You cannot use repeat play and A-B repeat with some DVDs and
during menu play of Video CDs.
¡A-B repeat works only within a single track or title. The unit
automatically determines the end of a title or track as point B.
¡Subtitles may not appear between A and B.
¡Repeat and A-B repeat cannot be used together.

There is no feature to repeat the whole disc for DVD-Video that
contain more than one title.

angles.

While playing a scene with multiple angles
Press [SHIFT] +
[ANGLE] to change the
current angle number.
The angle number changes each time you press the button.
You can also use the cursor buttons ( or
)
to change the
number.
To clear the display
Press [ENTER].
¡Some discs allow you to set angles before multi-angle scenes are
played. Read the instructions that come with the DVD.
¡Only the motion picture parts of DVD-Audio are affected.
