HOW
TO
MEASURE
FREQUENCY
Using
the
method
described
in
the
preceding
application,
you
can
measure
the
period
(time
required
for
1
cycle
or
time
for
a
given
number
of
cycles)
of
a
recurrent
waveform.
The
frequency
of
the
waveform
can
be
calculated
since
frequency
is
the
reciprocal
of
the
time
period.
For
example,
if
the
period
of
a
recurrent
waveform
is
accurately
measured
and
found
to
be
20
µs,
the
frequency
is
50
kHz.
If
the
time
for
10
cycles
is
10
ms,
the
frequency
is:
1
x
10
=
1
kHz
10
ms
To
calculate
the
period
of
a
known
frequency:
