3.6 Data connections
The Teldat M2 router family offers various data connections:
3.6.1 4-port Ethernet switch connections
To connect to a local area network (LAN), the Teldat M2 router family features a 4-port 10/100/1000 Base-T switch
with automatic MDI/MDIX.
It is important to carefully differentiate this switch from other port types, so please pay close attention to the labeling.

During the booting process and in BIOS mode, only the LAN 1 connector is accessible.
3.6.2 WAN Combo connection
For WAN connection, the Teldat M2 router family includes a combo Gigabit Ethernet interface. This interface has 2
connectors - SFP for an optical link and RJ45 for a 10/100/1000 Base-T link. However, please note that these con-
nectors cannot operate simultaneously.
To prevent any misunderstanding, please make sure to carefully read and understand the labeling for these ports.

Note
The WAN interface includes UTP/Fiber Media Auto Detection capability.
Please use only one of the connectors to ensure proper functionality.
Note
The WAN-1 connector will not work during booting or in BIOS mode.
Note
A suitable software license may be necessary for the combo WAN (WAN-1) interface to function cor-
rectly.
