As soon as you release the joystick, the stairlift stops and
the lamp on the control unit goes out. An inbuilt safety
mechanism ensures that you cannot keep changing the
direction of movement. After each change, the stairlift waits
for a short time interval. Even after a stop, for example
halfway down the stairs, the stairlift will only start after a short
delay.
