Followthesestepstoremoveslackfromthetraction
control:
1.MovethetractioncontroltotheDISENGAGED
position.
2.LoosentheretainerthatsecurestheV-beltcover
andpivotthecoveropen(Figure41).
3.Toremoveslackfromthetractioncontrol,
loosenthefront-cablejamnutandtightenthe
back-cablejamnut(Figure44)untilallslackis
removed.

Usecarewhencheckingthecutting-unitreel.Wear
glovesandusecautionwhenservicingthereel.
Awornordamagedbladeorbedknifecanbreak,and
apiececouldbethrowntowardyouorbystanders,
resultinginseriouspersonalinjuryordeath.
•Inspectthebladesandbedknivesperiodicallyfor
excessivewearordamage.
•Usecarewhencheckingtheblades.Weargloves
andusecautionwhenservicingthem.Only
replaceorbacklapthebladesandbedknives;
neverstraightenorweldthem.
LevelingtheRearDrumto
theReel
1.Parkthemachineonaat,levelsurface,
preferablyaprecisionsteelworkplate.
2.Placea0.6x2.5cm(1/4x1inch)atsteelstrip,
approximately73.6cm(29inches)long,under
thereelbladesandagainstthefrontedgeofthe
bedknifetopreventthebedbarfromrestingon
theworksurface.
3.Raisethefrontrollersothatonlythereardrum
andthereelareonthesurface.
4.Firmlypressdownonthemachineabovethe
reelsothatallreelbladescontactthesteelstrip.
5.Whilepressingdownonthereel,slideafeeler
gaugeunderoneendofthedrum,thencheck
theotherendofthedrum.
Note:Ifthereisagapbetweenthedrumand
theworksurface,greaterthan0.25mm(0.010
inch),oneitherend,adjustthedrum(proceedto
step6).Ifthegapislessthan0.25mm(0.010
inch),noadjustmentisrequired.
6.Removetherearbeltcoverfromtherightsideof
themachine(Figure45).
