OperatingtheMachine
•StarttheengineandrunitattheHALFIDLEposition
untilitwarmsup.Pushthethrottleleverallthe
wayforward,liftthemowerdecks,disengagethe
parkingbrake,presstheforwardtractionpedal,
andcarefullydrivetoanopenarea.
•Practicemovingforwardandreverse,andstarting
andstoppingthemachine.Tostopthemachine,
removeyourfootfromthetractionpedalandletit
returntoNEUTRALorpressdownonthereverse
pedal.
Note:Whengoingdownhillinthemachine,you
mayneedtousethereversepedaltostop.
•Whenpossible,mowupanddownhillsratherthan
acrossthem.Havethemowerdeckslowered
whengoingdownahilltomaintainsteeringcontrol.
Donotattempttoturnthemachineonahill.
•Practicedrivingaroundobstacleswiththemower
decksupanddown.Becarefulwhendriving
betweennarrowobjectssothatyoudonotdamage

•Alwaysdriveslowlyinroughareas.

•Whentransportingthemachinefrom1workarea
toanother,raisethemowerdeckstothefully
upwardposition,shutoffthePTO,pressthe
mow/transportswitchtothetotheTRANSPORT
position,andplacethethrottleintheFASTposition.
ChangingMowingPatterns
Changemowingpatternsoftentominimizeapoor
after-cutappearancefromrepeatedlymowinginthe
samedirection.
UnderstandingCounterbalance
Thecounterbalancesystemmaintainshydraulic
backpressureonthedeck-liftcylinders.This
counterbalancepressuretransfersmowerdeckweight
tothemowerdrivewheelstoimprovetraction.The
counterbalancepressurehasbeensetatthefactory
toanoptimalbalanceofafter-cutappearanceand
tractioncapabilityinmostturfconditions.Decreasing
thecounterbalancesettingcanproduceamore
stablemowerdeck,butcandecreasethetraction
capability.Increasingthecounterbalancesettingcan
increasethetractioncapability,butmayresultin

UsingProperMowingTechniques
•Tobegincutting,engagethemowerdecks,then
approachthemowingareaslowly.Oncethefront
mowerdecksareoverthemowingarea,lowerthe
mowerdecks.
•Toachievetheprofessionalstraight-linecutand
stripingthatisdesirableforsomeapplications,nd
atreeorotherobjectinthedistanceanddrive
straighttowardit.
•Assoonasthefrontmowerdecksreachtheedge
ofthemowingarea,liftthemowerdecks,and
performatear-drop-shapedturntoquicklylineup
foryournextpass.
•Themowerdeckstendtothrowgrasstotheleft
sideofthemachine.Ifyouaretrimmingaround
bunkers,itisbesttomowinaclockwisedirection
topreventthrowingclippingsintothebunker.
•Bolt-inmulchingbafesareavailableforthe
mowerdecks.Themulchingbafesperformwell
whenyoumaintainturfonaregularschedule
toavoidremovingmorethan25mm(1inch)of
growthpercutting.Whenyoucuttoomuchgrowth
withthemulchingbafesinstalled,theafter-cut
appearancemaydeteriorateandtheobserved
powertocuttheturfincreases.Themulching
bafesalsoperformwellforshreddingleavesin
thefall.
