apapertoweltocleanthebatterycase.Ifthebattery
terminalsarecorroded,cleanthemwithasolutionof
fourpartswaterand1partbakingsoda.Applyalight
coatingofgreasetothebatteryterminalstoprevent
corrosion.

RemovingtheBattery
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengage
thePTO,andengagetheparkingbrake.
2.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
3.Disconnectthenegative(black)groundcable
fromthebatterypost(Figure41).
Note:Retainallfasteners.
WARNING
Batteryterminalsormetaltools
couldshortagainstmetalmachine
components,causingsparks.Sparks
cancausethebatterygassestoexplode,
resultinginpersonalinjury.
Whenremovingorinstallingthe
battery,donotallowthebattery
terminalstotouchanymetalpartsof
themachine.
Donotallowmetaltoolstoshort
betweenthebatteryterminalsand
metalpartsofthemachine.
