Installation
AFDH-SVN03H-EN 37
Required Reprogramming of
UCP2 Controls
For the chiller to operate properly with the AFDH drive, the
UCP2™ control mode needs to be changed to the AFDB
control option and the following tabled list of menu
parameters need to be set to the recommended values
shown.
1. Starter Type: The highest model level of AFD
available in the UCP2™ starter type menu parameter is
the AFDB. The principles of the AFDB control algorithm
are the same as the operating principles of AFDH
model drives.
Note: The UCP2™ - AFDB control algorithm allows
speed reduction to as low as 38 Hz. However, if
the highest level AFD algorithm level available
within the UCP2™ control starter type menu
parameter is AFD, this UCP2™ can still work
with the AFDH drive but the maximum speed
reduction allowed will only go as low as 42 Hz.
Note: If the UCP2™ starter type menu parameter does
not show any AFD type values, this control is
not compatible with any model of adaptive
frequency drive.
2. Condenser Pressure Sensor Option: There must be
a condenser pressure installed on the chiller and this
option must be enabled within the UCP2™ control for
proper chiller operation with an AFDH drive.
3. AF
Adaptive Speed Control Algorithm: For the
AFDB control algorithm to work, this parameter must
be enabled.
4. AF
Leaving Water Standard Deviation: This value
indicates the standard deviation permitted in the
evaporator leavingwater temperature (ELWT) fromthe
chilled water setpoint to allow speed decreases. The
smaller this value, the more stable the ELWT must be
before speed decreases will be allowed to occur. The
standard deviation is adjustable from 0.5°F to 4.0°F, in
0.1°F increments. Under most circumstances, optimal
chiller performance is achieved by using the default
value of 1.0°F.
5. AF
Pressure Coefficient Constant: This value is
used to normalize the Pressure Coefficient (PC)
calculation within the AFDB control algorithm. The PC
