Remove
ihe
lronr bolr and tie back the saddle clear of the petrol tank.
Twinseat. This must be removed.
Petrol Tank.
Turn off the petrol tap or taps and disconnect the petrol pipes.

Unscrew the four tank to bracket securing bolts when the tank can be removed.
Take care not to lose the rubber tank pads.
Exhaust System. Slacken the exhaust pipe finned clip bolts, remove the pipe to
bracket bolts, the silencer steady to frame nut and the silencer hanger bolts. Remove
each pipe and silencer as an assembly. (On the TR5 the branch pipe clip bolt
should also be slackened and the left pipe and silencer taken
OH
first).

Torque Stays. Remove the nuts securing the stays to the cylinder head bolts
and slacken off the stays to frame bolt when the stays can be disconnected.

Electrical Equipment. Disconnect the H.T. leads and remove the sparking plugs.

Carburetter-Amal. Remove the air cleaner connection and unscrew the two
flange nuts. Withdraw the carburetrer from the fixing studs and tie
it
to the frame.
If
it
is
desired to clean the unit, unscrew the knurled ring securing the throttle and
air slides and take away the mixing chamber assembly. Carefully tie the slide
assembly to the frame, out of harm's way.
Carburetter-S.U.
Remove the air cleaner connection and vent pipe from the
carburetter. Unscrew the flange nuts and disconnect the throttle cable at the
carburetter body when the carburetter can be removed.
Rocker Feed Pipe.
Unscrew the acorn nuts securing the rocker oil feed pipe
banjos to the rocker spindles and then ease the pipe OH the spindles.
Rocker Drain Pipes.
Remove the adaptor bolts
at
the cylinder head only.
Rocker Boxes.
First
unscrew and remove the four centre bolts which secure the
rocker boxes and cylinder head
to
the block.
The next operation
is
to remove the
FOUR NUTS holding the rocker boxes to cylinder head BEFORE removing the four
small rocker box bolts. Failure to observe this WARNING may result in BROKEN
CYLINDER HEAD LUGS. When all fixings have been unscrewed, remove the
i
rocker boxes.
Exhaust Push Rods and Cover. Remove
Cylinder Head.
Unscrew the remaining four holding down bolts, when the head
can be lifted off the block.
Inlet Push Rods and Cover. Remove.
