Process data Data that contains Control word and reference
value or Status word and actual value. May also
contain other (user-definable) control

Request label Coded information specifying the required
service for the parameter part sent from master
to slave
Response label Coded information specifying the required
service for the parameter part sent from slave to
master
Slave Passive bus participant. In the PROFIBUS
terminology, slave stations (or slaves) are also
called passive stations. Also referred to as
node.
Warning Signal caused by an existing alarm which does
not lead to tripping of the device
