The TechGuys Recovery Backup
Your Advent computer is supplied with a tool that allows you to create a backup of your Recovery Solution.
We advise that you do this before you start using your computer. You require a USB pen drive or SD
card that has a capacity of 2GB or greater.
Important!
The media (either USB pen drive or SD card) you use will be formatted. All information that it
contains will be permanently destroyed.
Recovery Backup
To Start, either:
o Double-click the TechGuys Recovery Backup icon on your desktop
o Click Start > All Programs > The TechGuys > TechGuys Recovery Backup
You will be asked to close any open programs. Click OK to restart the PC.
After your computer has restarted it will automatically load
the recovery program and display the TechGuys
Recovery Backup Wizard.
Insert your media into the PC (either USB pen drive or SD
card). The wizard will only detect media that has a
capacity of 2GB or greater.
Wait a few seconds and click Start.
The wizard will detect any removable media with a minimum capacity of 2GB. You can choose the
media you want to use from the pull-down menu and click Next.
Please note:
1. If the wizard does not find any media make sure the media is inserted correctly and then
click Redetect.
2. If you are using a USB pen drive try the device in another USB port.
3. If the media is still not detected, click Exit and restart into Windows. Insert the media and
confirm that Windows can detect the device correctly. Windows may need to format the
media before it can read it.
A confirmation window will appear. Click Create to begin.
All files and folders on the media will be deleted.
The wizard will now create your recovery backup.
This can take up to 10 minutes depending on the speed of
the media used.
