Touring: opening and closing the rear
window
Small items can be loaded and unloaded
quickly when the rear window is opened sepa-
rately.
The roller-blind cover is raised when the
rear window is opened. Before closing the
rear window, press the roller-blind down until it
snaps into place.<
Press the button: the rear window opens
slightly. It can now be swung upwards.
Press the window down to close it.
Wrap protective material around any
sharp ends or edges of items of luggage
that could strike the rear window while the car is
moving, to prevent these damaging the heating
conductors in the rear window.<
Alarm system*
The principle
The alarm system reacts if:
> A door, the engine compartment lid or the
luggage compartment lid/tailgate is opened
> There is any movement inside the car: Inte-
rior movement detector, see page 24
> The car's inclination changes, for instance
if an attempt is made to jack it up and steal
the wheels or to raise it prior to towing away
> There is an interruption in the power supply
from the battery
Depending on the national-market version of
the car, the alarm system briefly indicates unau-
thorised entry or tampering by means of:
> An acoustic alarm
> Switching on
*
the hazard warning lights
Arming and disarming
Whenever the car is locked or unlocked, either
with the remote control or at the door lock, the
alarm system is armed or disarmed at the same
time.
You can open the luggage compartment lid/tail-
gate using the button on the remote control
even when the alarm system is armed, see
page 18. As soon as the lid is closed, it is locked
and monitored again.
On certain national-market versions, the
luggage compartment lid/tailgate cannot
be opened with the remote control unless the
car has been unlocked.
On certain national-market versions, unlocking
via the door lock triggers off the alarm.<
Panic mode*
You can activate the alarm system in the event
of danger:
Press the button for at least three seconds.
To switch off the alarm: press any button.
