Riding mode
Selection
Three riding modes allow the
motorcycle's characteristics to
adapt to the prevailing weather
conditions, the road and traffic,
and the rider's style of riding:
RAIN
ROAD
DYNAMIC
Each riding mode affects the
behavior of the motorcycle in
a different way. DTC can be
switched off in each mode; the
explanations below invariably re-
fer to conditions with the system
switched ON. The last selected
riding mode is reactivated au-
tomatically after the ignition is
switched off and on again.
The following always applies:
The sportier the selected mode,
the more directly the engine out-
put can be utilized. At the same
time, the level of rider assistance
that the DTC system offers de-
creases accordingly.
Therefore, consider the follow-
ing when selecting the riding
mode: The sportier the setting,
the more demanding the require-
ments for the driving skill of the
rider are!
RAIN
The engine output is only par-
tially available. Power increase
when you open the throttle is
reserved, engine response is cor-
respondingly soft.
The DTC system intervenes early
enough to prevent the rear wheel
from spinning. On roads with
high to medium friction coeffi-
cients (dry and wet asphalt to
dry cobblestones) the vehicle re-
mains very stable; movements
of the tail are clearly perceptible
only on slippery roads (wet bitu-
men or wet cobblestones).
ROAD
In this mode the full engine
output is available. Power
increase when you open the
throttle is more direct than in
RAIN mode, the engine responds
more rapidly.
DTC system intervention is later
than in RAIN mode. The vehi-
cle remains stable on road sur-
faces with high to moderate co-
efficients of friction (traction) (dry
and wet asphalt as well as dry
cobblestones). Slight rear-wheel
drift is perceptible. Movements
of the tail are clearly perceptible
on slippery road surfaces (wet bi-
tumen or wet cobblestones).
DYNAMIC
The DYNAMIC mode is the
sportiest mode.
Power increase and engine re-
sponse are the same as in ROAD
mode. However, the driver's
