Steering and Transmission Linkage
Thesteeringtierodanddraglinksandtherelated
transmissionlinkagearesetat the factoryand should
notrequirefurtheradjustment.Becauseof the complex
adjustmentprocedure,thesteeringand transmission
linkageshouldonlybeservicedor adjustedby a qualified
mechanic.If youexperienceproblemswith steering,or
withthehydrodrivetransmissions,contactyournearest
CubCadetdealertohavethetractorinspected.
Adjusting the Seat
WARNING: After adjusting the seat
__lb r beforedriving the tractor, make
sure that the seat adjustment lever is
engaged in the seat index plate and
that the seat will not move. Do not
adjust the seatwhile the tractor is
being driven. Adjusting the seat while
the tractor is moving could cause the
operator to lose control of the tractor.
1. Whilesittingin theseat,graspthe seatadjustment
leverontheleft sideof the seatandpullit upwardto
disengagefromtheseatindexplate.SeeFigure9.
2. Slidetheseattothedesiredposition.SeeFigure9.
3. Oncethedesiredpositionis reached,releasethe seat
lever.Slidetheseatslightlyforeandaft as necessary
toengagetheseatleverinto oneof the eightadjust-
mentpositionsinthe indexplate.Makecertainthe
seatislockedin position.
Leveling the Deck
NOTE:Checkthetractor'stire pressurebeforeperform-
inganydecklevelingadjustments.RefertoTireslaterin
thissectionforfurtherinformationregardingtirepressure.
Side to Side Leveling
If thecuttingdeckappearsto bemowingunevenly,a side
tosideadjustmentcanbeperformed.Adjustif necessary
asfollows:
1. Withthetractorparkedon a firm,levelsurface,move
thedeckto the midheightposition(thirdor fourth
notch)usingthedecklift lever.Rotatebothbladesso
thattheyareperpendicularwiththe tractorframe.
2. Measurethedistancefromtheoutsideof the leftblade
tiptothegroundandthedistancefromtheoutsideof
therightbladetip totheground.Bothmeasurements
takenshouldbeequal.If they'renot,notewhetherthe
leftsideofthedeckisloweror higherand proceedto
thenextstep.
3. Workingfromtheleftsideofthetractor,loosen,butdo
notremove,the hexcapscrewontheleft deckhanger
bracket.SeeFigure11.

4. Toeventhe deckturnthe adjustmentgear,located
immediatelybehindthehexcapscrew,clockwise
(rearward)toraisethe leftside of the deck.Turnthe
gearcounter-clockwise(towardfront)to lowertheleft
sideofthedeck.SeeFigure11.
5. Thedeckis properlyleveledwhenbothbladetip
measurements,asdescribedearlier,are equal.
6. Retightenthehexcap screwonthe leftdeckhanger
bracketwhenproperadjustmentisachieved.

Beforeoperating
this machine,
makesurethe seat
isengagedinthe
seatstop.While
sittinginthe seat
beforeyoustart

thatthe seatwill
notslidefore or
aft.
