Fault Conditions
The AE controller is designed to diagnose and correct all upset conditions prior to sending the system into a
Hard Fault and shutting it down. If the system cannot self-correct, then a Hard Fault is identified. There are
eight Hard Fault conditions that can occur. The display will identify the fault condition and provide the most
recent operating conditions prior to shutdown.
List of Hard Faults:
1.
LOW CURRENT –display rotates through the following screens:
X AMPS
X VOLTS
X °F
SPEED X%
This condition is the result of insufficient current to the cell within the desired time. The system will shut
down to prevent production of low concentration oxidant. Possible causes are transducer cable
disconnected, water pressure too high and loss of brine feed
2. HIGH CURRENT –display rotates through the following screens:
X AMPS
X VOLTS
X °F
SPEED X%
This condition is the result of excessive current to the cell. The system will shut down to prevent damage to
the electrolytic cell. Possible causes are low water supply pressure and low water flow.
3. HIGH TEMP X °F –display rotates through the following screens:
X AMPS
X VOLTS
X °F
SPEED X%
This condition is the result of the oxidant outlet temperature exceeding 150°F (66°C). The system will shut
down to prevent damage to the electrolytic cell, plastic fittings and oxidant tank. Possible causes are low
water supply pressure, low water flow and high source feed water temperature.
4. LOW TEMP X °F –display rotates through the following screens:
X AMPS
X VOLTS
X °F
SPEED X%
This condition is the result of the inlet water temperature below 50°F (10°C). This can only occur after a cell
flush (purge) on startup or restart. The system will shut down to prevent damage to the electrolytic cell
coatings. Possible cause is supply water too cold
5. LOW FLOW
No other display information is provided. This condition is the result of insufficient water flow through the
system. Possible causes are low water supply, blockage in the water line, or calcium build up within the cell.
6. TANK FLOAT STUCK
