INDICATOR DISPLAYED POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION
FLASHING
The infuser has not been properly replaced
after cleaning�
Insert the infuser as described in the section “Cleaning
the infuser”�
The inside of the appliance is very dirty� Clean the inside of the appliance thoroughly, as described
in the section “Cleaning and maintenance” If the message is
still displayed after cleaning, contact a service centre�
TROUBLESHOOTING
Below is a list of some of the possible malfunctions�
If the problem cannot be resolved as described, contact a Service Centre�
PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION
The coee is not hot�
The cups were not preheated� Warm the cups by rinsing them with hot water� The hot
water or rinse function can be selected�
The infuser has cooled down because 2/3 minutes have
elapsed since the last coee was made�
Before making coee, heat up the infuser by pressing the
rinse button�
The coee is weak or not
enough crema�
The coee is ground too coarsely� Turn the grind coarseness dial one click anticlockwise while
the grinder is in operation (g� 14)�
Continue one click at a time until coee delivery is
satisfactory�
The eect is only visible after 2 coees have been made
(see the section “Adjusting the grinder” on page 11)�
Dierent blends of coee can also aect this� Try a dierent blend of coee�
The coee is delivered too
slowly or in drops�
The coee is ground too nely�
Even if large bubbles are present it is recommended to
knock the large bubbles out by gently tapping the milk
container against a hard surface and swirling the milk
around�
Turn the grinding dial one click clockwise while the grinder
is in operation (g� 14)�
Continue one click at a time until coee delivery is
satisfactory�
The eect is only visible after 2 coees have been made
(see the section “Adjusting the grinder” on page 11)�
Coee does not come out of
one or both spouts�
The spouts are blocked� Clean the spouts with a toothpick�
The frothed milk has large
bubbles
The milk is not cold enough or is not semi-skimmed� You should ideally use skimmed or semi-skimmed milk at
refrigerator temperature (about 5°C)�
If the result is not as you wished, try changing brand of
milk�
The milk is not frothed
Cappuccino maker is dirty� Clean as described in the section “Cleaning the cappuccino
maker after use” (page 13)�
Steam delivery stops
A safety device stops steam delivery after 3 minutes� Wait, and then enable the steam function again�
The appliance does not turn
on�
It is not plugged into the mains socket� Plug into the mains socket�
The main power switch (A8) is not turned on� Push the main power switch (g� 4)�
