6.3 Single UPS Operation
Note breakers operation nomenclature: Open = O = Off, Closed = I = On.
Refer to the
External Battery Cabinet Installation Manual
for EBC battery breaker
location.
The breakers and external Maintenance Bypass switch mentioned below are provided by
customers except for UPS input breaker(optional).

6.3.1 Starting the UPS in Standard Normal Mode (Default Mode)
To start the UPS system:
1. Unfasten the front door by lifting the latch from the bottom and turning to the right (counterclockwise) and
swing the door open (see Figure 6-1).
2. If the UPS contains an input breaker, verify that the input breaker is open.
3. If output breaker is installed by customer, verify that the output breaker is open.
4. If bypass input breaker is installed customer, verify that the bypass input breaker is open.
5. If input feeder circuit breaker is installed customer, close the input feeder circuit breaker.
6. If bypass input breaker is installed customer, close the bypass input breaker.
7. If the UPS contains an input breaker, close the input breaker.
8. Close the door and secure the latch.
9. Close the external battery breakers.
10. Observe the UPS control panel display becoming active, indicating logic power.
11. Verify no alarms are active.
12. Select the CONTROLS symbol on the main menu bar. The System Control screen is displayed.
13. If not already selected, select UPS on the System Control screen.
14. On the UPS System Control screen, select the LOAD OFF NORMAL command, then press the
RETURN pushbutton.
15. If requested, enter the Level 1 password. Default password is 1111.
The rectifier and inverter turn on. The inverter continues to ramp up to full voltage.
Once the inverter reaches full voltage, the UPS output contactor closes and the static switch turns off.
Power is now supplied to the critical load in Standard Normal mode. It takes approximately one minute for
the UPS to achieve Standard Normal mode.
The Normal status indicator is illuminated.
16. If output breaker is installed customer, close the output breaker.
