To
meet
HEW
requirements:
The
half-value
layer
of
the
useful
beam
at
80
KVP
shall
be
not
less
than
2.3mm
aluminum.
NOTE:
on
different
types
of
instruments.
1.
Position
radiation
probe
of
an
integrating
radiation
measuring
instrument
so
that
the
center
of
the
active
probe
area
is
12
inches
(304.8
mm)
from
the
end
of
the
collimator
and
centered
in
the
useful
beam.
Collimate
down
to
area
of
probe
using
light
beam.
2.
Keep
other
equipment
at
least
4”
(101.6
mm)
away
from
probe
to
prevent
radiation
scatter
errors.
Remove
the
1.0
and
2.0
mm
selective
filters
from
collimator.
3.
Use
technic
factors
of
80
KVP:
20
to
48
MAS.
MAS
should
be
adjusted
so
that
reading
in
step
4
is
approximately
3/4
scale.

Make
an
exposure
and
measure
radiation
(total
R)
with
no
added
filters.
This
represents
100%
transmission
level.
Record
readings.

standard
absorber
46-173632G1
in
beam.
Absorber
must
be
in
collimator
accessory
rails.
Repeat
exposure
and
record
reading.
6.
Divide
reading
in
step
5
by
reading
in
step
4.

fixed
filtration
must
be
left
as
is.

If
Ratio

less
than
0.5,
then
fixed
