INITIAL TEST
The following tests are designed to find
out if your Amplifier is operating
properly before you connect it to your
system. This will be done by injecting
hum into the amplifier inputs and
listening for a response from the
speakers. If you do not get the i ndi-
cated response from the speakers, turn
the amplifier off and refer to the
"In Case of Difficulty" on Page 44.
Then, after you locate and repair the
difficulty, return to this section and
complete the tests.
( 'p Refer to Figure 1-1 and connect a
4n, 8n or 16n speaker to each
channel's speaker terminals (Right
Channel: Rand C; Left Channel:
L and C).
( Q Set all front pushbuttons to their
OFF (out) position.
(~I Rotate the BASS, TREBLE and BALANCE
controls to their centre of rotation.

( ) Rotate the VOLUME control full
counterclockwise and then turn it
approximately 1/8 turn clockwise.
( ) Turn both PHONO ADJ controls, Rl23
and R124 on the amplifier circuit
board, full counterclockwise. Then
turn each control approximately 1/8
turn clockwise.

CAUTION: When the power cable is
plugged in, AC voltage is present at
several places in the chassis. Therefore,
touch only the points indicated in a test.
( ) Connect the power cable to a wall
outlet.
( ) Push the POWER pushbutton to ON (in).
The front panel indicator lamp
should light.
( ) Push the SPKRS (speakers) pushbutton
ON (in). You should not hear any
sound from the speakers.
( ) Push the PHONO pushbutton ON (in).
