OPERATION
Proper connections to the tape recorder
are
illustrated
in Figure 1-6.
CAUTION:
DO
NOT
CONNECT
A
TAPE
RECORDER
INPUT
TO
THE
AMPLIFIER
SPEAKER
TERMINALS
OR
THE
LUGS
OF
YOUR
SPEAKERS,
as
some
recorder manufacturers
recommend.
This could
damage
your tape recorder.
The
signals of
any
programme
material
will appear
at
the
TAPE
OUT
sockets re-
gardless
of
the
VOLUME
control
position.
Therefore,
by
connecting a cable
from
the
TAPE
OUT
socket to the input of your
tape recorder (or tape deck),
you
can
record
programme
material
from
any
input
source of the Amplifier.
The
tape recording procedure
is
basically
the
same
for
all
sources. Therefore, the
following steps will describe the
operation for only
one
source.
( ) Connect a
stereo
signal source to
the appropriate inputs
at
the
rear
of the Amplifier. Press the push-
button for
that
input.
Make
sure
the
MONO
pushbutton
is
in the
OFF
position.
( )
Now
follow the tape recording
procedure outlined in the
instruct-
ion
manual
for your recorder.
TAPE RECORDER
PLAYBACK
( ) Set
up
your recorder for
stereo
playback operation.
( ) Press
the
Amplifier
TAPE
pushbutton
to the
ON
position.
This
is
all
that
is
needed to
set
the Amplifier for
tape recorder playback.
TAPE
MONITOR
OPERATION
NOTE:
If
your tape recorder does not
have
a tape monitor output
circuit,
disregard
the next
two
steps.
If
your
recorder does
have
a tape monitor output
circuit,
you
can
monitor
programme
material while
it
is
being recorded in
the following
manner.
Set
the
Amplifier switches
and
controls
as
follows:
( )
Push
the appropriate pushbutton for
the input
that
you
want
to record.
Set
up
your recorder
for
tape monitor
operation
as
stated
in your recorder
instructions.
( )
Push
the Amplifier
TAPE
MON
push-
button on. This
now
enables
you
to
listen
to the material being recorded
on
your tape.
The
TAPE
MON
may
be
either
ON
or
OFF
without
interfering
with the recording process.
