Defining the storage system to TPF
The storage system supports the IBM TPF and MPLF functions in either native mode or under VM.
MPLF support requires TPF version 4.1 or higher, and RAID-5+ and 3390-3/3R LVIs are supported.
The storage system's TPF/MPLF capability enables high levels of concurrent data access across
multiple channel paths. For further information on TPF and MPLF operations, see the IBM
documentation.
Defining the storage system to mainframe Linux
The storage system supports attachment to the following mainframe Linux operating systems:
• Red Hat Linux for S/390 and zSeries
• SuSE Linux Enterprise Server for IBM zSeries
For information on supported versions, Linux kernel levels, and other details, contact your HP
representative.
For information on preparing the storage system for Linux host attachment, see the IBM publication.

Initializing the LVIs
The storage system LVIs require only minimal initialization before being brought online. The following
shows an MVS ICKDSF JCL example of a minimal init job to write a VOLID and VTOC.
NOTE: PAV base and alias devices require additional definition. For further information, see the
HP StorageWorks P9000 for Compatible Parallel Access Volume User Guide.
