Customer Setup
Many components of the 3174 Establishment
Controller
subsystem
are
designated
as
customer
setup units. These offer such advantages to the
customer
as
early
availability
and
greater
flexibility
in the installation and relocation of the
components. Each
customer
setup
unit
is shipped with specific documentation
instructions. For a
list
of
customer
setup units, see "Choosing the Right Book from
the 3174
Library"
on page iii.
Problem Determination
The 3174 Controller, as a component of the 3270 Information Display System,
provides specific problem
determination
procedures as part of its
programming
network. Some of the devices come with
their
own problem
determination
code.
For example, the 3299
Terminal
Multiplexer
and the
display
stations
are
shipped
with problem determination information. The
IBM 3270 Personal Computer is
supported by diagnostic aids that
are
provided on its
own
diskette.
Diagnostic aids such as those supplied with the
IBM 3270
PC
are
intended
for
the
system operator.
Other problem determination procedures
are
provided at the
host end. The
following
IBM software products provide problem determination
procedures at the host:

Display Exception Management Facility (DEMF)
• Network
Error
Management Facility (NEMF)
• Facility
Error
Recognition System (FERS).
