Separate switching systems
Two single-card systems can be conÞgured by remov-
ing the backplane jumpers from one of the cards. The
two cards will be controlled by the same mainframe,
but they will be electrically isolated from each other.
Figure 2-8 shows an example using two Model 7012
matrix cards.
Narrow matrix expansion (4

20 matrix)
A narrow 4 row

20 column matrix is conÞgured by
simply installing two “as shipped” Model 7012s in the
Model 7001 mainframe. By leaving the backplane
jumpers installed, the rows of the matrix card installed
in slot 1 (CARD 1) are automatically connected to the
rows of the matrix card installed in slot 2 (CARD 2)
through the analog backplane. The 4
