SERVICE PROCEDURE
CHECK AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR BELT TENSION, ADJUST
CHECKING
The belt should normally deflect by 10 mm (0.4 in) when pressed
with the thumb (with a force of approx. 58.8 N (6 kgf)) at a point
midway between the air compressor pulley and drive pulley.
ADJUSTING
1.
Loosen bolt (1) and lock nut (3).
2.
Rotate adjusting nut (2) so that the deflection is approx. 10 mm
(0.4 in) (at a force of approx. 58.8 N (6 kgf)).
3.
After adjustment, tighten lock nut (3) and bolt (1) securely.
4.
Check for damage to the pulleys, and wear of the V-groove and
V-belt. Be particularly careful to check that the V-belt is not in
contact with the bottom of the V-groove.
5.
If the V-belt is so lengthened that it cannot be adjusted any
more or if it has any cuts or cracks, replace it.
6.
If the V-belt has been replaced with a new part, there will be
initial elongation, so adjust the belt again after operating for 2
to 3 days.
