7.6 Preparing vehicle for rides on wet and muddy circuits

– Clean the motorcycle. ( p. 108)
– Straighten bent radiator fins carefully.
7.7 Preparing vehicle for high temperatures or slow riding
– Make sure that no radiator covers ( p. 90) are installed.

– Check the radiator cap.

Warning
Danger of scalding During motorcycle oper-
ation, the coolant gets very hot and is under
pressure.
– Do not open the radiator, the radiator hoses
or other cooling system components if the
engine or the cooling system are at operat-
ing temperature.
– Allow the cooling system and the engine to
cool down before you open the radiator, the
radiator hoses or other components of the
cooling system.
– In the event of scalding, rinse the area
affected immediately with lukewarm water.
– Change the radiator cap.

– Adjust the secondary drive to the road conditions.

The engine oil heats up quickly when the clutch is
operated frequently due to an excessively high sec-
ondary ratio.
– Clean the radiator fins.
– Straighten the bent radiator fins carefully.
