(2) Removing Engine Outer Parts
Draining Coolant and Removing Engine Outer Parts
• Never open the radiator cap while operating or immediately
after stopping. Otherwise, hot water will spout out from the
radiator. Wait for more than ten minutes to cool the
radiator, before opening the cap.
1. Set the engine stands (2) to the crankcase.
2. Open the radiator drain plug, and remove radiator cap to
completely drain the coolant.
3. After all coolant is drained, close the drain plug.
4. Loosen the inlet hose band and the radiator hose bands, and
remove the radiator (4) with the radiator hoses (12) and the air
cleaner (5).
5. Loosen the fan belt. Remove the alternator (10), the starter
motor (8), the cooling fan (3) and the fan belt.
6. Remove the heat proof cover (9), the muffler (7) and the
exhaust manifold.
7. Remove the drive pulley from the flywheel.

(3) Cylinder Head and Valves
Cylinder Head Cover
1. Disconnect the breather hose.
2. Remove the cylinder head cover nuts.
3. Remove the cylinder head cover (1).
(When reassembling)
• Check to see if the cylinder head cover gasket is not defective.
