FOR SAFE OPERATION
Careful operation is your best insurance against an
accident . Be
sure
to learn how to operate the mower
and observe the following precautions . It is the owner's
legal obligation
to
instruct
all
operators in safe operation .
Before allowing other people to use your mower, explain
how to operate and have them
read
this
manual before
operation .
0 Before operation (Pre-operation)
a
Operator
(1) Do not operate the machine while under the influen-
ce
of
alcohl,
medication,
on
other
substances or
while fatigued .
(2) Be thoroughly familiar with the
controls and learn
how to stop quickly in emergency . Know your equip-
ments and its limitations .
(3) Wear long pants and protective footwear . Do not
wear loose, torn or bulky clothing to avoid entangl-
ment
with
the
rotating parts . Do not operate the
mower when barefoot or wearing open sandals .
(4) Do not allow children
to
operate the
mower .
" Machine, blade and equipment
(1) Never operate the
mower
without proper guards,
shields, and the grass catcher bag or deflector in
place .
(2) Keep all nuts, bolts and screws
tight
to be sure the
mower is in safe working condition .
(3)
Check
the
blade
and
the engine mounting bolts
at
frequent intervals for proper tightness .
(4) Check bag or deflector frequently for wear and dete-
rioration and
replace worn
bags or deflectors
. Check
that replacement bags or deflectors comply with ori-
ginal Kubota parts .
(5) Inspect the blade for
wear
and damage . A
dull blade
can be sharpened, but
a blade
that
is worn out, bent,
cracked,
or
otherwise damaged must be replaced .
Turn the mower sideways with the muffler side facing
up when checking inside the cutter
deck
.
(6) The mower is
equiped with many safety devices . Do
not
alter or remove any part of safety system for your
safety .

Working area
(I) Thoroughly inspect the area where
the mower is
to be
used . Remove all stones, sticks, wires, bones and
other objects that could
be
thrown
at high speed .
(2) Keep the operation area clear of all persons, parti-
cularly small
children, and pets .
a Refueling
Fuel is
extremely flammable and explosive under cer-
tain conditions .
(1) Stop the engine and allow engine
and muffler to cool
before adding fuel . Refuei in a well-ventilated area,
and always clean up
splilled fuel . Keep away from
flames and spark and do not smoke in the a rea .
(2) Make sure that the
filler cap is securely closed after
refueling . Do not overfuel the tank .
Operation
" Starting
(I ) Do not start
the
engine
on uneven terrains or slopes .
(2) Do not operate or idle engine in a non ventilated
area . Carbon monoxide gas is colorles, odorless,
and deadly .

Operation
(1)
Shut the engine off and wait for all movement to stop
before removing the grass and another objects tagi-
bling into the blades and rotating parts .
(2) Shut the engine off and wait until the blade comes to
a complete stop before removing the grass catcher
bag or deflector . Do not put your hands into the
discharge guard
.
(3) Keep your hands and feet away from the cutter deck
while the blade is rotating . Do
not
put
hands
or
feet
near or under rotating parts . Keep clear of the
discharge opening at all times .
(4) Mow only in daylight or in good artificial light . Never
operate the mower in the rain or in wet grass . Keep
a firm hold on the handle . Do not interfere with nor-
mal motion of mower .
(5) Do not stand in front of the mower
while
the
engine
is running .
(6)
Never
direct discharge
of
grass towards persons or
pets to avoid thrown objects hitting them .
(7) Release the blade clutch lever to stop the blade
before reaching areas with loose stones, or
gravel .
(8) When mowing
tall
grass,
set the mower
blade
to a
higher position . Always check the mower area for
hidden objects .
(9) Stop engine immediately when heaving an abnormal
noise . Make a complete check and remove objects
causing the problem, or contact your dealer .
(10) Push the mower for better directional control when
mowing around trees, or trimming an edge . Do not
use the drive clutch lever
.
(11 ) Never
attempt
to make a wheel height adjustment
while the engine is running .
