7 .4 AIR CLEANER
Clean the air cleaner element periodically .
Sufficient air
will not enter the
carburetor if the element is dirty .
Each
time you have mowed in
a dusty environment, clean the
element afterwa rds .

Unscrew the wing nuts, remove the
cover, and take
out the element
.
(2) (Paper element)
A
CAUTION
" Wear eye or face
protection when blowing out filter
element . Dirt particles
can damage eyesight .
Tap
the element lightly several times on a hard
surface
to remove excess dirt or blow
the dust off the element
from the inside with compressed air . Replace
the ele-
ment with a new
one if it is too dirty . (Urethane element)
Wash the element with liquid
detergent . Rinse it well and
dry thoroughly .
IMPORTANT
" Oiling of the
urethane element is not recommended .
Loss of power or excess white smoke
and spark plug
fouling may result .

7 .5 FUEL COCK AND
FILTER
(1) Close the fuel cock and remove the clamp and
fuel
filter . (For HTC
model)
(2) Empty the fuel tank and remove
the fuel cock and fil-
ter from fuel tank . (except HTC model)
(3) Clean the fuel filter with
solvent and check for dama-
ge . If damaged replace it .

Place the filter with its "MADE IN USA"
face toward
the tank . Use a
KUBOTA genuine filter (Part No .
12687-4302-1) . (For HTC model)
(2) Be sure to fit the filter
tight to allow no fuel
7 .6 SPARK PLUG
A
CAUTION
" Allow engine and muffler to cool
before servicing
spark
plug .
Remove the spark
plug with a specific socket wrench,
and clean . Adjust the spark
gap to 0 .7 to 0 .8 mm (0 .028
to 0 .031 in .) .
Clean and adjust every 6 months, or
100
hours .
