damage due to improper disposal of bat‐
teries
Batteries contain pollutants. It is
illegal to dispose of them with the household
rubbish.

Dispose of batteries in an
environmentally responsible manner.
Take discharged batteries to a qualified
specialist workshop or to a collection
point for used batteries.
Requirements:

a CR 2032 3 V cell battery
Mercedes-Benz recommends that you have the
battery replaced by a qualified specialist work‐
shop.

Remove the emergency key (/ page 46).

Press release button 2 down fully and slide
cover 1 forward.
#
Remove battery compartment 3 and remove
the discharged battery.
#
Insert the new battery into battery compart‐
ment 3. Observe the positive pole marking
in the battery compartment and on the bat‐
tery.

Insert battery compartment 3.
#
Replace cover 1 so that it engages.
#
Slide emergency key element in completely
until it engages (/ page 46).
Problems with the key

there is interference from a powerful source of radio waves

the key is faulty

Check the battery using the battery check lamp and replace if neces‐
sary (/ page 46).

Use the emergency key element to unlock and lock the vehicle
(/ page 46).
#
Have the key checked at a qualified specialist workshop.
You have lost a key.

Have the key deactivated at a qualified specialist workshop.
#
If necessary, have the mechanical locks replaced.
Doors
Notes on the additional door lock
The additional door lock is only available for vehi‐
cles for the United Kingdom.

WARNING Risk of injury to persons
inside the vehicle when the additional
door lock is activated
If the additional door lock is activated, the
doors can no longer be opened from the
inside.
