Foraddedsafety,thehydraulicbrakingsystemoperates
throughdualcircuits.Ifonecircuitshouldfail,theother
willcontinuetofunction,butgreaterpedalpressurewill
beneeded,andincreasedbrakepedaltravel,andlonger
stoppingdistanceswillbeexperienced.Intheeventofa
brakefailurewhereonlyonecircuitisoperational,thecar
shouldbebroughttoahaltassoonastrafcconditions
safelyallow.DONOTcontinuedriving-seekanMG
AuthorisedRepairer .
ServoAssistance
Thebrakingsystemisservoassisted,alwaysbeawareof
thefollowingduringtheoperation:
•Thevacuumboosterfunctionswiththepowersystem
inREADYmodeonly.Neverallowthevehicletocoast
whenthepowersystemisnotinREAD Ymode.
•Inpureelectricmode,Vacuumtosupportthesystem
isprovidedbyanelectricvacuumpump.DONOT
continuallypumpthebrakepedal,thismayaffectthe
vacuumpumpefciency,thebrakingsystemmaybe
unabletoprovidesufcientbrakeassist.
•Ifthepromptmessage"VacuumSystemFault"is
displayedintheinformationmessagecentre,bring
thecartoahaltasquicklyastrafcconditionssafely
allowandcontactanMGAuthorisedRepairerassoon
aspossible.Atthistime,thebrakingsystemmaybe
unabletoprovidesufcientbrakingforce,DONOT
drivethevehicle.
•Theefciencyofthebrakeservoboostercanbe
affectedbynumerousconditions,suchasthechange
ofbarometricpressure.Theseconditionscouldresult
inextraforcerequiredtooperatethebrakepedalto
stopthecar.
WetConditions
Drivingthroughwaterorheavyrainmayadverselyaffect
brakingefciency.TheSCS(StabilityControlSystem)
includesaBrakeDiscWipingfunctionwhichisactivated
whenthewindscreenwipersareused.However,always
keepasafedistancefromothervehiclesandintermittently
applythebrakepedalinconditionswherethewipersare
notused.
